Theater

An idea I've had in my sketchbook for some time. I'm happy with the finished piece, but would like to do another version later.

On-line learning

I'm beginning to take classes on lynda.com. The first class I'm taking is on the basics of InDesign CS3. I'd like to follow InDesign with classes on HTML; Flash; Dreamweaver, etc.

Next year I plan on pursuing my Masters degree in Motion design/web design. While pursuing my illustration career...I'll certainly be busy!

Work from 2002

Some older work. Done, I believe, in the beginning of 2002. That's when I began to experiment with Illustrator.

5 minute sketch

I gave myself 5 minutes to draw whatever came to mind. Hands and a man with a hole on top of his head. Hmmm...

I keep forgetting...

that my blog is for me to post ANY image(s) that I draw, completed or not, sketch or not. Can't get it through my thick skull.

I just want to present something nice to those who visit daily. And, thank you for your continued support.

I'm going to start taking classes next week, and will try to post images. They may be just sketch pages, but at least it's something.

Shopping for vinyl

My cousin and I went shopping for albums on Monday. I came away with 3: Thickfreakness and Chulahoma by The Black Key's and Bob Dylan's Nashville Skyline. He came away with about $150 worth.

DCFC

Saw Death Cab For Cutie last night. Fantastic show. Ra Ra Riot and Cold War Kids opened for them, and they were great as well.

I did learn that I may be getting old. My feet, ankles, and knees were killing me. I have bad feet as it is, but standing all night only made that more apparent.

Wacom Sketch I

A quick little drawing using the Wacom tablet.

With Wacom sketches, I'm going to draw whatever comes to mind and post it. I'll try not to censor myself.

Feeling blue...

I've been feeling depressed as of late. Don't know what it is. Can't seem to shake it off easily this time.

Fleeting thought

I gave myself an hour for concept and completion. It's nice to set parameters to challenge yourself sometimes...

Old college work, Part 4

More fish. This is when I began to experiment with watercolor and pen and ink.

To portfolio or not to portfolio

I've always wondered; what constitutes a "portfolio" piece when first building your portfolio?

Is it an image that has to do with current events? Is it a piece that you create in regards to an article you read? Or is it a drawing of a concept that really doesn't have anything to do with a current event?

As an illustrator starting out, it's a tough thing to determine what is a portfolio piece. I guess you just need to trust your instincts, and if it's a great piece in your eyes, then include it.

I plan on posting an image for this post on Friday. It's late as I type this, and I'm sleepy.

Thanks for listening!

Cubed

This is what I felt like yesterday. I always do on Mondays. I just feel uncomfortable at times sitting in my cubicle.

Old college work, Part 1

Not much to say about this one. One of my first pieces done in watercolor.

????

A piece done in high school. NO idea what it is, but it has the typical light bulb with arrow on top; eyes peeking through a hole in the wall; and New York city which I always drew. What I was thinking? No clue.

Gestures of War - Wired: Final

I'm happy with the finished piece, and I'd like to do another image for the article at some point.

Doodle Doo! Part II

Some more doodles.

I'm currently working on the "Wired" article I read, but took a slight detour and made some design changes to my main site. There are about 5 other articles I'm interested in doing pieces for.

Plus, I bought King Khan and The BBQ Show from iTunes. Great stuff. Check out King Khan and The Shrines as well... \m/
