Soar

Yearning to fly...

Concept: Unable to sleep due to my horrendous cough, I laid there in bed, thinking of this weeks Illustration Friday word, "soar". I immediately thought, "Boy, if I were an ostrich, it would drive me nuts that I couldn't fly." So, I've given an ostrich a chance to soar.

Though, I don't think this one will have much time to enjoy it...

Fecal Matter

The area of your brain that gives you shitty ideas...

Concept: I was doing mind-numbingly boring work today, so as I concentrated on everything but what I was doing, I began to imagine a place where bad ideas come from. I thought to myself, "Well, I've had plenty of shitty ideas, so there has to be a place in the brain where they emanate from."

So I did a little math, carried the 2, and came up with "Fecal Matter".

What's in the box?!

Not my most favorite idea, in terms of taste, but, it was in my head, so I went with it...

Based on the movie Se7en...

Perpetual Nourishment

I think a big problem with my work is that I don't tell a story with my images. There has to be a narrative. I've fallen into the trap of just combining objects to make a "creative" image.

I'm going to start telling stories with my images (hopefully), and I think that will make my work richer. Thanks for listening to me complain!

ps...of course, I don't want to concentrate TOO hard on telling a story. I also get caught up in "thinking" too much, and end up not producing anything. I spin a web, then get caught in it....

Rare Swingline

A rare stapler indeed, this version never made it to the shelves. One may be able to find it on Ebay.

Floweris Vaseus

I'm going to create black and white images for the remainder of the year, and if they turn out, will color them for my portfolio! FUN!

Round 4

With much respect to Michael Renouf and Bill Watterson...

As of December 1st, we've had over 20 inches of snow in my hometown. Fun!

Excess

We received 6 inches of heavy, wet snow on Saturday. What a joy to shovel...

Well, technically it didn't snow to "excess", but, close enough... :-)
