Observifying
I've been doing a lot of thinking lately, and I've decided to start observing again. I want to get back into teaching myself how to "see" things, and the best way to do that is to observe, and draw from life. I received a great email from my friend Michael Renouf, and everything he said made so much sense.
I'm still going to create puns and such, but I want to concentrate on improving my drawing skills and building my portfolio.
I thank all of you for your support, and for your continued support.

"The first drawing was a simple line..."
Becky got me this fantastic book, "Leonardo's Notebooks", for my birthday. I've always loved his sketches and thoughts, so, to extract inspiration from his work, I decided to don a Da Vinci head piece and beard. It hasn't worked yet...

Book with dripping pages
...don't really know what this means. Just an idea that popped into my head.
I was looking at my past work, and I kept coming back to this image: Bounded Leap
This is probably one of my favorite pieces that I've done. I'm using it as an inspiration for my other work.
I've been debating lately whether to start producing more work traditionally or digitally. In the past I used to think that if you didn't produce work the traditional way, you were "cheating". As I've gotten a little older (I know, 34 is still kinda young), I've begun to realize that I need to work the way I feel most comfortable in. As of this moment, it's digitally. I've done watercolor and acrylic in the past, but each piece would come out looking like it was done digitally. I've talked about this before, but, I'm still going back and forth with it. Stinks.
I'll continue to color my pieces digitally, and maybe throw a gouache piece in there. I'm thinking of doing some paintings as well. Something more "arty"...

...and counting
Well, I turned 34 today. We're not going to do much. I'd like to get some new glasses, so we'll go do that. Um...and get some dinner.
As you can see, no new image. I've been going to bed early because of a cough and sore throat. Typical for me this time of year.
New images soon! (I know I keep saying that, but I will do it! Promise!)
*why is that song "Promises, Promises" running through my head? (admit it, you started singing it!)

zzzzz...
Sorry I don't have anything new. I will soon. I promised myself...
I'll try to post more often, though outside obligations may take some time away. I work from 7:30 - 4:00, with a 40 minute commute one way. Also, I'm trying to lose weight as well, so I workout after work. That goes to about 6 (I don't get home until 4:50). Then we have dinner, and by that time it's 7 - 7:30. I'd like to spend some time with Becky before the night is through, and not always hunched over in front of my computer.
If it were a commissioned piece, that's another story. Then I'd work all night on it. With personal work, sometimes life "gets in the way".
Thanks for listening to me vent, and thanks for your continued support.
